Natural Disasters – Disaster Mapper
Hi All, I have found a great interactive website for students that explores natural disasters in Australia, ‘Disaster Mapper’. It has been produced by the Australian Government. It doesn’t work on the iPad however, due to requiring flash player. When you click on a natural disaster or disasters information and statistics appear on the left hand side of the screen as well as icons on the map of Australia. By clicking on the icons you will see additional information about the disaster(s). Students can select just one or all states. You can zoom in and out of the map as you would on Google maps. It looks like a good resource for students.

Primary Science Connections Units -PDF Downloads
All of the primary connections science units are available for download from Scootle. They are aligned to the Australian Curriculum and include some links to the Science as a Human Endeavour strand.
I have downloaded each unit from Scootle and have uploaded these onto the science page, organised under year level headings. Each document is in PDF format and can be downloaded and saved.
Teaching Ideas for AC Geography R-7
I have put together a range of ideas to support the implementation of Geography in the Australian Curriculum R-7. The ideas cover each of the Geography concepts: Place, Space, Environment, Interconnection, Scale, Sustainability & Change. The ideas for each concept in the document start from early years and build to upper primary ideas. There is also a range of general ideas for exploring Geography using inquiry models, graphic organisers, ICTs, literature texts and more. I hope you will find this document useful when planning.
